Stephen Colbert Mentions Lawsuit Against Illinois Wind Farm, But Makes a Point
Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 1:28PM TV Satirist Stephen Colbert this week briefly mentioned the noise-related lawsuit filed against NextEra Energy's DeKalb County project. And as usual, the faux-pundit's silliness was backed with truth: no energy source is completely without impacts.
From the piece:
Folks in Illinois, Texas and Pennsylvania are filing lawsuits about the noise caused by wind turbines.[...]
Cleaning the environment shouldn't mean noise pollution. Luckly we can save the planet from unpleasant sound, by using new Quiet Coal Technologies, and breakthroughs in Silent Oil.
And if we just do that much, eventually the ice caps will melt, the seas will rise, and our coastal cities will be under water...where it's nice and quiet."
A key nugget of "truthiness" from the former Chicagoan.
